B: An impressive amateur career, commonwealth gold medalist and an unbroken pro record so far with half your wins by devastating KOs. You must be proud of your career so far. So what’s your next goal?
CJ: YES I HAD A GOOD AMATEUR CAREER WHICH WAS TOPPED OFF WITH GOLD AT THE CWG 2010 IN DELHI ! MY NEXT GOAL IS TO WIN TITLES AS A PRO.
B: It has also been an impressive string of victories for Gallagher’s gym, where you train. What made you chose Gallagher’s and why do you think their members are so consistently successful?
CJ: OBVIOUSLY THE REPUTATION WAS GOOD BUT WHEN I WENT AND TRAINED I KNEW THAT'S WHERE I WANTED TO BE , I THINK THE SUCCESS COMES FROM THE HARDWORK AND DEDICATION THE WHOLE TEAM PUTS IN TOGETHER.
B: You were managed by Prince Naseem for a while. What was that like?
CJ: WAS GOOD BEING MANAGED BY A CHILD HOOD HERO AN HE WAS A GREAT GUY ASWELL GOOD FUN TO BE AROUND.
B: Which of your boxing skills would you most like to focus on in the coming months and why?
CJ: ALL OF THEM AND JUST TO KEEP IMPROVING IN ALL DEPARTMENTS U CAN NEVER STOP IMPROVING.
B: Are you sponsored yet? IF you work, how do you balance that with your training needs?
CJ: I HAVE HAD SPONSORS OFF A FEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE HELPED ME ALONG THE WAY WHICH HAS BEEN A MASSIVE HELP, NEVER HAD A PROPER FULLTIME SPONSOR THOUGH, IM A FULL TIME PRO SO DON'T HAVE A JOB.
B: How did you first become involved in boxing?
CJ: JUST AS A KID I WOULD BOX WITH MY DAD AN HE TOOK ME DOWN THE LOCAL CLUB AND JUST WENT FROM THERE
B: What decided you to turn pro?
CJ: IT WAS A BIG CHOICE BETWEEN TURNING PRO OR GOING FOR LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS , I DECIDED TO TURN PRO AS I WAS 25 AND NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER IT WAS A HARD CHOICE.
B: Which boxers have inspired you most in your boxing career and style?
CJ: IT'S HARD TO SAY BECAUSE I LIKE SO MANY , BUT MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE GROWING UP AS A TEEN WAS RICKY HATTON
B: How do you mentally prepare for a fight? Do you have any last-minute habits or rituals?
CJ: NO I'M NOT A SUPERSTITIOUS PERSON I JUST GO WITH THE FLOW AND LET IT HAPPEN
B: Can you outline a typical training day?
CJ: MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE PORRIDGE FOR BREAKFAST AND GET IN THE GYM AROUND 11AM FOR A HARD BOXING SESSION WHICH CAN BE BAGS / SPARRING / CIRCUITS / PADS ETC THEN WILL HAVE DINNER AND CHILL FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS BEFORE THE RUNNING SESSION WHICH IS EITHER LONG RUNS OR SPRINTING SESSIONS.
B: What aspect of training do you least enjoy and why?
CJ: LONG RUNS ON YOUR OWN AT NIGHT BUT THEY GOTTA BE DONE
B: What has been your career highpoint so far?
CJ: WINNING THE GOLD MEDAL AT THE GAMES WAS THE BEST MOMENT IN MY CAREER AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE THAT I'LL NEVER FORGET.
B: What would you say are your greatest strengths as a boxer?
CJ: HAVING THE ABILITY TO CHANGE MY OWN STYLE IN ORDER TO BEAT MY OPPONENT
B: Besides boxing what other sports are you into?
CJ: THE USUALS LIKE FOOTBALL AN ANYTHING ACTIVE
B: What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting boxing with regard to choosing a gym etc?
CJ: JUST GO TO YOUR LOCAL BOXING GYM AND GO FROM THERE AND ENJOY IT WHEN THE ENJOYMENT GOES IT ALL GOES
B: Who has been your toughest opponent so far (pro or amateur) and why?
CJ: WOULD HAVE TO BE NIKITA IVANOV IN THE AMATEURS A WORLD RANKED RUSSIAN NATIONAL CHAMPION, HE WAS A TOUGH STRONG KID WHO PRETTY MUCH WINS EVERYTHING HE ENTERS. I MANAGED TO BEAT HIM ON THE DAY WE MET .
B: You have quite a strong online presence and make use of social media such as Facebook and twitter. How do you feel this can help a boxer with his career?
CJ: IT HELPS YOU TO SPEAK WITH FANS SO IT'S GOOD LIKE THAT BECAUSE WITHOUT YOUR FANS YOUR NOT REALLY ANYTHING
B: What would be your ideal fight and why?
CJ: MANNY PACMAN VS FLOYD MAYWEATHER , SO WE COULD FINALLY SEE WHO'S THE MAN , I PICK FLOYD
B: So what’s next on the cards in the coming year?
CJ: I JUST HOPE TO STAY BUSY AND KEEP CHIPPING AWAY UP THE RANKINGS
